Bridges

San Ramon Cerec

Missing teeth can cause a variety of problems, from low self-esteem and embarrassment to physical ailments, including gum disease, bite problems, bone loss, speech difficulties and painful chewing. A dental bridge can not only restore your smile to its natural appearance, but it can also return it to comfort and function. A bridge is a custom-fit false tooth (or teeth) that is permanently placed between two healthy teeth and is held in place by porcelain crowns.

Non-metal Fillings

If your teeth are filled with dark metal amalgam fillings, your smile is aging your appearance. Your discolored teeth may also cause embarrassment. Of the most concern, however, is the fact that metal fillings can also damage teeth. Amalgams expand with heat and contract with cold. This movement weakens the tooth wall, leading to fractures and allowing bacteria to enter and cause decay. Amalgam fillings contain mercury that may have negative long-term health effects. Tooth-colored composite fillings are a safer, stronger, more attractive and more enduring alternative to metal. They conservatively restore your teeth to strength and your smile to beauty.

Hygiene

Preventative care is an integral part of our practice. Maintaining good oral hygiene is one of the most important things you can do for your teeth and gums. Healthy teeth not only enable you to look and feel good, they make it possible to eat and speak properly. Good oral health is important to your overall well-being. Scientists have discovered a link between gum disease, which is usually caused by poor oral hygiene, and pancreatic cancer. Other studies have shown that people with periodontal disease have an increased level of inflammatory markers such as C reactive protein (CRP) in their blood. These markers are part of an early immune system response to persistent inflammation and have been linked to the development of pancreatic cancer and other diseases. Promoting health through preventative dentistry and educating our patients on good oral hygiene is the heart of our practice. Thorough examinations and professional cleanings allow us to identify problem areas and stop periodontal disease which can cause further problems down the line.

CEREC

San Ramon Diagnodent

Your time is valuable, so to make dentistry as convenient as possible, we offer CEREC Technology. CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, allows us to create and place a custom-designed restoration -- a crown, onlay or veneer -- in only one appointment in our office. Typically, such a procedure requires two separate visits with several weeks between the two. CEREC takes a digital image of your tooth and then carves a custom restoration in just a few minutes. It is then placed, restoring your smile to health, comfort and a natural appearance.

Diagnodent

Our office is proud to use Diagnodent, a laser detection system that has the ability to detect hidden decay under seemingly intact tooth structure. The Diagnodent scans the area with a laser light that is harmless. The laser detects the hidden decay and grades it using a numeric scale, allowing our team to diagnose the proper treatment necessary to prevent further decay. The Diagnodent is a small, portable unit, safe for the patient, and unparralleled in accuracy.
